Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has announced that they are going to establish a purpose-built IT park and Technology Estate at Abbottabad, a city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. KPITB in this regard has started consulting with the industry members in the sector to initiate the process of building an IT park in the city and to devise a master plan and architectural design of the technology estate in the city.
To engage Pakistan’s top IT companies and other key stakeholders in this project the KP board held a meeting at the LMKR office under the leadership of Ali Khan Jadoon the chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication and special assistant to Chief Minister for Science & Technology and IT Mr. Kamran Khan Bangash.
Other members who attended the meeting included MD Dr. Shahbaz Khan of the KP IT Board, LMKR CEO Mr. Jahanzeb Moazzam Khan, CEO Tech Valley Abbottabad Umar Farooq and the rest of the KP IT board officials.
As Abbottabad is on its way to becoming the new hub of businesses and has been a host to several tech and tourism conferences and events held all over the year, this new IT park ventures envisions to develop a competitive KP workforce that is equipped with the relevant skills, scale, and technology.
Located on the CPEC route, with a number of Universities, being one of the safest cities of Pakistan, and also a gateway to few of the best tourist destinations of the country, Abbottabad is ready to become the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) hub of the region.
Apart from Abbottabad, there are many cities in Pakistan which are going to get their own IT parks soon. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoIT) has started the process of developing IT parks in Karachi, and Lahore. The MoIT before that established a National Information Technology park in Chak Shahzad Islamabad as well.
