  • Larger Screen Experience: The software allows for conversations on larger screens, such as computers or laptops. This allows you to utilise your phone for other purposes, increasing productivity in other aspects of your life.
  • Collaborative Dashboard: Use the collaborative dashboard to communicate with your team and respond to clients from one place. Although not a native feature of the app, the shared inbox capability is available via the WhatsApp Business API and hence best suited for business use.
  • Quick File Transfers: WhatsApp Web simplifies file sharing by allowing users to simply drag & drop documents into the chat. This method is more faster and more convenient than transferring files via e-mail or moving them to your phone beforehand.

Drawbacks of WhatsApp Web

While WhatsApp Web offers several advantages, it also has its share of drawbacks and limitations:

  • Internet Dependency: WhatsApp Web requires a constant internet connection to function properly. You cannot use WhatsApp Web if your connection is lost or the battery on your phone runs out.
  • Browser Reliance: WhatsApp Web requires a web browser for access. The browser tab should remain open, and it is preferable to utilize reputable browsers for ongoing work. Logging out occurs when you close the tab or turn off your computer.
  •  Privacy Risks: Refrain from using WhatsApp Web on shared or public computers due to privacy risks. So, always remember if you use these services, always log out after your session to ensure that your communications are not accessed by unauthorized individuals.
  • Feature Limitations: Although WhatsApp Web is useful, it has some limitations. When investigating WhatsApp Web, one will notice the following limitations. For example, you cannot initiate voice or video calls using the web version of the service.

Even with these limitations, WhatsApp Web remains a terrific option for controlling your communications from your computer while being convenient. In terms of multitasking or working, it is better to use WhatsApp for business from your computer rather than constantly going between the computer and a smartphone.
