Google is quietly adding free, ad-supported movies to YouTube

YouTube

Google, the leading tech giant, has very quietly added a new functionality to YouTube which let’s its users watch different movies for free.

The feature, which definitely is supported with advertisements, allows users to watch full movies for free. In order to give an initial push to this section, YouTube has added as much as 100 ad-supported Hollywood movies – a new report from AdAge states. There are a lot of movies that have been added to the free catalogue and the list includes “Rocky”, “The Terminator,” “Zookeeper,” and “Agent Cody Banks.

“We saw this opportunity based on user demand, beyond just offering paid movies. Can we do ad-supported movies, free to the user?” Rohit Dhawan, the Director of Product Management at YouTube was quoted as saying. “It also presents a nice opportunity for advertisers.”

It must be noted here that, previously, Google did offer the option of getting access to movies by actually paying for it but the free option was never provided. Right now, the option is available for select consumers only and isn’t supported in Pakistan. Once Google matures this service, we can expect to see this luxury being rolled out to the Pakistani consumers as well.
