A new report has just started making waves in the tech circle that some of the applications are now able to track you even after you have uninstalled them.
The mobile application developers have now found out a way to track their target audience even after they have uninstalled their applications. The new report, first published by Bloomberg and later taken up by the other media, points that the app developers can know about the users who have uninstalled their applications targeting them again with ads. Several notable application developer firms are developing this feature for app developers and marketeers. The list includes, but is not limited to, Adjust, AppsFlyer, MoEngage, Localytics, and CleverTap.
More commonly known as the ‘Uninstall Trackers’, this feature helps developers first find out about the uninstallers so that they are later able to again target them with similar advertisements in a try to win them back.
If these uninstall trackers violate the privacy terms of Google and iOS store is another important question. “It’s just generally sketchy to track people around the internet after they’ve opted out of using your product, Alex Austin, CEO of Branch Metrics told Bloomberg. When approached by Bloomberg for a comment, Google and Apple both declined any statements.
User data privacy and protection has since long become an issue. As we become more connected over the internet, protection one’s personal data is increasingly becoming more complicated. Just yesterday we heard that Facebook was buying a cyber security company to secure the data of its users from being hacked.
