The upcoming Galaxy Note 9 has been in the works for quite some time now and subsequently has been subjected to a huge number of leaks and rumors. However, its price just got confirmed through a pre-order poster.
The pre-order poster has been leaked from Indonesia and the prices mentioned are of two variants; the base model and the up-specced variant. The base model, with 128 GB of storage is priced at 13,500,000 Indonesian Rupiah, which is the equivalent of almost Rs.120,000 while the up-specced variant, with 512 GB of storage will cost 17,500,000, which is equal to Rs.155,000. Add custom duties and other tariffs and you can expect the phone’s base model to cost Rs.130,000 and the up-specced model to cost north of Rs.165,000.
The poster has confirmed a few other things as well. According to it, the Note 9 will launch in three colors: Mystic Black, Artisan Copper, and Engineered Blue. This is contrary to prior rumors of the Note 9 launching in 5 colors but regardless of that, Samsung is bound to get a huge payday IF the phone resonates with consumers.
The poster confirms that Samsung is only launching two variants of the Note 9. However, what the poster doesn’t confirm is the specs of the phone, so let me recap the rumors for you:
Rumored Specifications of Galaxy Note 9
The base model is expected to come with 6 GB of RAM. The base model’s storage has been quoted as 128 GB in the pre-order poster, which contradicts previous rumors of the base model coming with 64 GB of storage. We saw a video of an alleged unboxing video of the Note 9 which mentioned 64 GB of storage but I’m quite sure this is the real thing.
The up-specced variant is expected to come with 8 GB of RAM. This will make the Note 9 Samsung’s first mobile to come with 8 GB RAM. Their current leader is the S9+ with 6 GB RAM. The up-specced variant’s 512 GB storage has been rumored since the last 4 months and it seems like that progress just got confirmed.
Collectively, the Note 9 is confirmed to have a 4000 mAh battery, the largest battery Samsung has ever put in a mass-market smartphone. Additionally, the phone is expected to come with the Snapdragon 845 chipset, which is the current flagship SoC of Qualcomm, the biggest chip manufacturer in the world. The phone’s display is expected to be a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED.
The Note 9 is set to be the most-expensive smartphone of the country. The mobile is set to take this throne from Oppo’s latest flagship, the Find X, which retails for Rs.129,999. Question is, will the Note 9 be successful in capturing the premium smartphone market or will it’s price deter most users away?
