Last month, Huawei announced its goal to ship 200 million smartphones in 2018, which means an increase of 47 million when compared with the last year. Chinese smartphone manufacturers confirmed on Wednesday, 18th of July that they are halfway there.
During the launch event of Huawei Nova 3 that took place yesterday, company’s CEO gave statements indicating they had achieved a milestone in terms of a number of devices that they have sold up till now. This year, Huawei took 5 months to reach the mark of 100 million sold devices while the company touched the same figure in 9 months last year. It is also an indication that Huawei is doing much better than it was last year. It can also predict that Huawei’s performance will be better than last year by the end of 2018.
It is, however, to be noted that Huawei crossed the same figure with 10 days to spare on the calendar. What is most noticeable is that over the past seven years, the Chinese company has managed to multiply its total sales by 51.
While Huawei’s CEO could not break down the figures, even though the flagship phones of Huawei, P20, and 20 Pro added to the figure with 6 million shipments as of last month. Also, Huawei P20 Lite proved to be the 7th best selling smartphone in the world.
Huawei’s sub-brand Honor also depicts impressive figures as it has upsurged its international sales by 150 % up till now this year.
Peeping into the future, we can speculate that if Huawei keeps performing at this pace, it might overtake Apple as the second manufacturer across the world by 1st quarter of 2019. And definitely, the company has a long way to go when it comes to the 1st position that is held by Samsung at present.
