Election Commission launches an app to help voters know all polling details

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has launched an app, Click ECP, to help citizens access their voting data.

ECP has taken a step forward to facilitate the voters for the upcoming General Elections 2018. With this app, you can find out details whether your vote is registered or not, your polling station and the constituency in which you can cast your vote. Furthermore, users also get a guide on ‘How to cast a vote?‘.

The app also has a media section where you can get the latest announcements, news, and notifications about elections. There is also a section called, Election Results where you can view the results of previous years.

Similarly, the Election Commission has also updated its SMS service. With SMS service, you can get information about your polling stations by sending your CNIC number to 8300. Earlier, the SMS service only provided details of the constituency. Now, the reply message will contain the information containing their name, city, village, district or tehsil and the electoral area. The message also includes a serial number of the vote registered in the initial electoral rolls. Voter’s house number has been kept as a secret to ensure the confidentiality so that the information is not misused by any means.

Just yesterday, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a statement that overseas Pakistanis will not be able to cast vote in forthcoming elections after the software developed was found prone to hacking. The NADRA official said,

“Online voting for overseas Pakistanis can experiment in by-polls. However, Pakistanis abroad will have to come to the country for using their right to vote in the general election.”

You can download Click ECP on Android to prepare yourself for elections.
