Facebook announced an app update for Messenger that brings the reporting tools to iOS and Android on Monday, May 14. With these reporting tools, now users can report those conversations which violate the Facebook community standards. The tools will help to review the chat quickly.

You can now access the reporting tool directly from any Messenger conversation on iOS or Android by:

1) Tapping the name of the person or group with whom you’re having a conversation.

2) Scroll to Something’s Wrong

3) Select from several categories such as harassment, hate speech, or pretending to be someone else

Moreover, You can also choose to ignore or block the person you are reporting. After completing your report, you’ll receive a confirmation that it was successfully submitted for review.

Hadi Michel, Messenger product manager, wrote in a blog post:

“Providing more granular reporting options in Messenger makes it faster and easier to report things for our Community Operations team to review.”

Following the new Messenger tools, Facebook on Tuesday, May 15 launched the Youth Portal, a tool designed to help teenagers navigate Facebook’s privacy options and help young users find the tools for reporting content. The Teen Portal has four main areas; Education, Peer voices, Ways to control your experiences and Advice.

Along with launching the portal online at Facebook Safety Youth Portal, the social media giant is also displaying tips for teenagers directly inside the News Feed.
