Facebook is having a lot of trouble since the last few weeks as the company has been in many scandals such as Facebook read your messages and even keeping the videos that you deleted, and especially that Facebook handed over data of 57 million accounts to Cambridge Analytica. Now the tip of the iceberg for Mark Zuckerberg’s problems, a recent report unveiled that Facebook had retracted messages from Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook Messenger conversations.
Facebook messenger doesn’t have an “Unsend” feature available to regular Facebook users, which means you can’t delete your sent messages, previously. But now the company has announced that it will add an “Unsend” feature in its messenger app. This might come as a surprise to many people, but this clearly shows that a power was used solely to remove damaging evidence, but the company claims they have been working on this feature for all users. Until the Unsend feature rolls out to everyone, the company added they won’t use the feature on any more of Mark’s messages.
Regarding the matter Facebook issued a statement:
“We have discussed this feature several times. And people using our secret message feature in the encrypted version of Messenger have the ability to set a timer — and have their messages automatically deleted. We will now be making a broader delete message feature available.”
This feature is similar to WhatsApp’s “Unsend” feature, it also includes an expiration timer. The thing to notice here is that Zuckerberg’s messages were removed from normal conversations before they released this feature.
Facebook seems to keep losing the trust of the people and now. “Announcing” the plans for this new feature in Messenger after getting caught using it on the CEO doesn’t look good at all. The company has not given any timeframe of when to expect the Unsend feature to be available to all users.
Do you really believe that Facebook Messenger was working on this feature and Mark Zuckerberg was the “beta tester” for it? Let us know in the comments below.
