Ignite, formerly known as National ICT R&D Fund, has launched a National Grassroots ICT Research Initiative to ignite innovation in Pakistani universities. There are 107 participating universities from all over Pakistan that are applying for this Program. Through this initiative, Ignite will provide funding to selected Final Year Projects (FYP) of undergraduate students who are enrolled in the following ICT disciplines:
- Computer Science & Information Technology
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Telecom Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
The financial aid aims at enabling the students to apply hands-on engineering to build a prototype that showcases innovation, creativity and development skills. The Program has been divided into two phases:
Phase I
In this phase, the FYPs will be nominated and submitted by universities for evaluation by Ignite. After which the qualified FYPs will be provided funding that will cover the cost of equipment and development of prototypes. Up to PKR 70,000 and PKR 10,000 will be awarded for both, respectively.
Phase II
This phase will comprise of a national competition amongst the FYPs who qualified in Phase I. Each university will nominate one FYP to participate in this competition, after the completion of Phase I. The national competition will have the following prizes:
National Champion
- Student Team (Maximum of 4): Cash Prize of Rs. 400,000/-
- FYP Supervisor: Cash Prize of Rs. 100,000/-
First Runner-Up
- Student Team (Maximum of 4): Cash Prize of Rs. 300,000/-
- FYP Supervisor: Cash Prize of Rs. 75,000/-
Second Runner-Up
- Student Team (Maximum of 4): Cash Prize of Rs. 200,000/-
- FYP Supervisor: Cash Prize of Rs. 50,000/-
How to Apply
FYPs can only be nominated by the respective Head of Departments on the prescribed application form available here. Ignite will only process nominations received in hard copy at the address mentioned on the form.
