With all those recent rumors of various Android-powered manufacturers embracing iPhone X’s notch design, we are getting confused. Now it looks like that notches might become a common feature of phones after Apple has set a precedent with the iPhone X. The flagship killers’ upcoming smartphone, the successor of OnePlus 5, OnePlus 6 could be one of the next handsets to support an iPhone X-like notch (though in a smaller size) if the new leaked images prove accurate.
Although the title of flagship killer seems to be a thing of old days, yet the title still lives. Our concern here is the newly leaked images, obtained by ITHome, which shows a smaller notch in a bezel-free screen, housing the camera and earpiece on the top. It’s not easy to observe in the image posted below, but when you look closely you can clearly see it.
The leaked image reveals the alleged OnePlus 6 from the front as well as back. The front screen is turned on and reveals that the device has the model number P7819. The leak reveals that smartphone will have a 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and runs Android 8.1 Oreo. There comes a doubt on the leak as even the OnePlus 5T tops out at 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, so how come a newer version will rely on lower specs.
Furthermore, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S9+, there is a vertically stacked dual-camera system with a fingerprint sensor right below it. Then, in typical OnePlus fashion, the company’s logo appears right on the center of the back.
Of course, most details regarding OnePlus’ next smartphone can’t be trusted at the moment, because the launch of the smartphone will happen somewhere in June. Even this potential leak could turn out to be fake, or it could be one of many prototypes. As OnePlus 5 went through several design changes before the company settled on its final design, so the OnePlus 6, set to be announced in coming months could end up looking very different from what we’re seeing today.
