Yes, it’s been 10 years since the launch of Android. It has been a long journey between the first public beta to becoming the most popular mobile operating system in the world. Android now has more than 80% market share which makes it the most dominant OS right now.
The first public beta was very different than what it is today. It was even different than what ended on the first Android phone. The first Android phone was manufactured by HTC and it looked great at that time. Android has evolved a lot and now it is a lot more stable than it was at that time. Plus it now has thousands of new features which no one could have thought about at that time.
The first Android version was optimized for the devices with a QWERTY keyboard. You can see in the video that the version of Android which, Google’s co-founder, Sergey Brin is showing is running on a device with a keyboard and how different it is from the current version of Android.
Google made an intelligent move at that time and quickly optimized the Android for touchscreen devices as touch screens were becoming more common those days and Apple also introduced its first iPhone with a touchscreen. Luckily, Google was not Microsoft and started to focus on the future of mobiles on time and made Android so powerful that it turned out to be the most popular operating system on the planet.

Google had the clear vision of making the Android a powerful ecosystem which it is now.
