Telenor Microfinance Bank, formerly known as Tameer Microfinance Bank, has launched Pakistan’s first MasterCard-branded virtual debit card.
Expressing his delight on the launch, Ali Riaz Chaudhry, President and CEO of Telenor Microfinance Bank, stated:
“This is a huge step forward in pursuit of our mission of innovating financial services for the convenience and security of our customers. With e-commerce growing exponentially, we are delighted to introduce Easypaisa virtual debit card, the most secure debit card in the country for online transactions. We, at Telenor Microfinance Bank, are humbled to continue to lead the transformation of financial and digital landscape of the country.”
The main aim behind the virtual debit card is to make the lives of Pakistani online shoppers easier. Using the newly introduced card, people will now be able to shop at local and international shopping platforms with complete ease. Of course in order to benefit from the card customers will need to have an Easypaisa account, install the Easypaisa app, and then desposit funds in that Easypaisa mobile account. Once you’ve done this, you can then proceed to generate a virtual debit card and then use it for making payments at online places which accept a Mastercard.
The virtual debit card will include all information necessary to make an online transaction including the 16-digit PAN number, expiry date, and the CVV. Once a transaction is made at a website using the virtual debit card, funds from that particular person’s Easy paisa mobile account will be deducted in real-time.
The virtual debit card is a step forth for Pakistan as it will help strengthen the country’s digital payment’s landscape. This will not only be a great facility for avid online shoppers but also students applying for universities abroad or registering for international examinations.
