In a bid to expand ad business and to generate more revenue, social media company Facebook has decided to launch home screen ads on Messenger across the globe. Facebook has been experimenting the feature in Australia and Thailand and now has decided to launch this new update. According to the company users worldwide will see ads on Facebook Messenger screen from next month.
The company has taken this course of action because space which it uses for ads have been shrinking quite sharply. Facebook’s large portion of the revenue comes from ads and owing to it the company has decided to diversify its revenue base and ad platform.
Messenger in an online post said, “ Messenger ads are going global. People will see Messenger ads in the home tab of their Messenger mobile app.”
Apart from this new announcement from Facebook, the company is reportedly testing drone to give internet access across the globe. The drone is named as Aquila and runs on solar power. Moving onward, the company has recently released a new app for its users worldwide to let users find WiFi hotspot easily using Facebook.
