Social media giants Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are joining forces for a cross-app notification feature. The feature would help the users to switch between the apps with greater ease.
The feature would regularly notify the users of unread messages between apps. If a user receives a message on WhatsApp, for instance while using Facebook messenger, they would be prompted through a notification and thus would be able to instantly switch between the apps.
Facebook is currently testing the feature with limited users to check its effectiveness. According to TechCrunch, the feature was first spotted by a Social Media activist Mari Smith while Facebook has also confirmed the news regarding this new feature.
“We are conducting a very small test to make it easier for people to discover and connect with the people and things they care about. We’re exploring ways to help people switch more easily between their Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram accounts,” said Facebook.
Apart from this cross-over, Facebook in these past weeks rolled out many updates for its users such as filtering out malicious ads from Facebook.
Facebook said, “It wanted to downplay links that people post to websites that have a disproportionate volume of ads relative to content, or that have deceptive or sexually suggestive ads along the lines of “5 Tips to be Amazing in Bed” or “1 Crazy Tip to Lose Weight Overnight!”
The cross-app notification will be releasing in the near future, said Facebook.
