The process to introduce the Smart Fences has already been started. As much as 20 global companies are going through technical studies of the region and other requirements. The “Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System” (CIBMS) will allow the Border guards to leave the traditional patrols over.

“In this regard few pilot projects are already on … two in Jammu and one each in Punjab and Gujarat where we have marshy areas. One project will be done in Assam’s Dhubri,” the Director General of Indian Border Security Force (BSF), KK Sharma said on Wednesday.

The CIBMS will be aided by a laser fence, accompanying surveillance radars, real-time satellite imagery and thermal gadgetry. The ground troops will only have to respond only when an infiltration will be sensed.
