The first ever Facebook developers conference in Pakistan was organized at Plan9 at the Arfa Kareem Technology Park in Lahore. The conference was held on the 1st of June that aimed to illustrate Facebook’s latest tool=kits for the developers in Pakistan:
The speakers for the event included well known figures from Pakistan that had their own success stories to share. Some of the notable speakers included:
- Tanzila Khan – Motivational speaker
- Usmani Shami – Executive Editor of Daily Pakistan
- Khurram Siddiqi – Vice President of products at Rozee.pk
- Badar Khushnood – CEO Bramerz
- Khalid Bajwa – Founder of Patari
Each speaker talked about their success and how individuals can use the Facebook platform to promote their services and goods. For instance, Usmani Shami talked about Daily Times’ journey from having nothing to a million views per day in just the matter of two years! He highlighted how they used the social media platform to gain popularity. Khalid Bajwa also discussed a similar story about Patari, he explained how Facebook’s business technologies helped him grow his product.
The guest speakers included Facebook representatives, Matt Terrell and Sarim Aziz. The head of Punjab’s IT board, Dr. Umer Saif, also came to the event for a brief period of time. Matt, a representative from Facebook’s Strategic Product Partnerships, talked about the Pakistani Facebook developers community and how it was the most lively when compared to developers from India, Mexico, and Brazil. He also shared his thoughts about the FBStart program that gives access of the latest technologies to young entrepreneurs for helping them setup their own product.
In conclusion, the Facebook developer’s conference for Pakistani developers community brought together some of the leading entrepreneurs in Pakistan who shared their personal success stories with young developers and entrepreneurs. Facebook representatives also joined the event and encouraged developers to make use of the technologies offered by the social networking site.
