Starting today, Instagram is going to start replacing the number of “Likes”, which are normally visible below the video, with the number of “Views”. Instagram is giving priority to the views because it thinks that it is the best way to show the interactivity of the community but if you want to see the number of likes, just tap on the views.
As Instagram slowly shifts its model to a revenue-based one(starting with sponsored posts in our photo streams), this is another feature which is mainly targeted for advertisers to give them a way of tracking the outreach of their Instagram ads.
Initially a photo-sharing service, Instagram added the option to upload 15 second videos in June of 2013. Although many of the 400 Million Instagram users don’t use it to upload videos, Instagram says that the amount of time people spend watch videos on Instagram has jumped up 40 percent feature. Also, the feature has contributed hugely to setting off numerous trends (search #Dubsmash on Instagram) and even celebrities have taken a liking to it, preferring it over other video-specific social networks like Vine.
