Smog Clean Tower Set Up In Lahore By Punjab Government

LAHORE: Lahore now features the Smog Clean Tower, a joint project between the Punjab Government and NUST.

APP said, “The tower is being installed in Mehmood Buti. The location has been selected due to the high level of air pollution. The installation and calibration of the tower is underway. It will be fully functional by December 21.”

It is possible for the tower to clean the air of harmful particles, which will help a lot in lowering the pollution level in the city.

According to Marriyum Aurangzeb, the senior minister of Punjab, this is a groundbreaking move that would help alleviate the severe pollution problem. She went on to say that this building will serve as an example for Pakistan and Lahore.

Also, the Punjab Environmental Protection Department has not stopped taking widespread action against polluters. For more than three months, Lahore’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has been very low, which has hurt the city’s overall growth.

Lahore’s Air Quality Crisis Disrupts Economy and Education

There has been a substantial impact on the economy and educational institutions. As a result of pollution, Lahore’s air quality index (AQI) dropped, making it the second most polluted city in the world.

The Advocate General (AG) of Punjab had already approached the Lahore High Court with a proposal to restrict weddings to October as part of a larger effort to address deteriorating air quality. The ban would be in effect from November through January, with the hope of reducing pollution during the winter months. Nevertheless, the ban was later extended until November 24.

One million locals, notably children, are worried about their health due to the polluted air. UNICEF has issued cautions about the consequences of extended exposure to such toxic air, which puts more than 11 million children under the age of five at risk.
