KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a four-day closure of schools for security reasons as the 12th International Defence Exhibition and Seminars (IDEAS) approaches.
Sindh Education Department has announced that schools in the Karsaz and Sharea Faisal areas of Karachi will be closed for four days, from November 19th to the 22nd, 2024.
Tomorrow is the first day of the much-anticipated exhibitions and seminars show. Many international defence leaders and foreign groups will attend the event.
IDEAS 2024 is Pakistan’s premier defence industry exhibition, organized by the Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO). Held biennially, IDEAS serves as a platform to showcase Pakistan’s advancements in defence technology and strengthen international defence collaborations. The event brings together global defence leaders, high-ranking military officials, policymakers, and representatives from over 50 countries.
This year’s event, hosted at Karachi Expo Centre, is set to highlight state-of-the-art defence equipment, innovative technology, and Pakistan’s growing role in the global defence industry. International delegations, including defence ministers and industry experts, are expected to attend. In addition, IDEAS facilitates business-to-business (B2B) meetings, seminars, and strategic discussions to foster partnerships and promote Pakistan’s defence exports.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the inaugural ceremony, where a wide range of military hardware, including advanced weapons systems, vehicles, and aviation technology, will be on display. The exhibition is expected to draw significant international media attention, further boosting Pakistan’s defence industry profile.
To ensure the event proceeds smoothly, the Sindh government has implemented extensive security measures, including traffic diversions and heightened police and military presence in key areas. The temporary closure of schools in the vicinity aims to reduce congestion and enhance safety for all participants and residents.
