WhatsApp Introduces Instagram’s ‘Add Yours’ Sticker to Status Updates

Whatsapp Introduces Instagrams Add Yours Sticker To Status Updates

With the addition of new features, WhatsApp continues to improve and is now the leading end-to-end encrypted messaging service. While Instagram has already stabilized features like private mentions and status likes, WhatsApp is reportedly working on features like a personalized emoji list and music support for Status Updates.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is adding a ‘Search on web’ feature for images soon, so you can use it like Google Lens right from the messaging app. Another media-focused feature will simplify the process of sending images or videos by adding a shortcut to the app that takes you straight to your device’s gallery.

In addition to those promising in-development features, WABetaInfo has seen WhatsApp continuing its momentum, with additional content stickers for Status Updates supposedly on the way. The news source discovered WhatsApp’s ‘poll’ sticker for Status Updates in an iOS beta from September. Both iOS and Android have not yet released the interactive sticker.

Just like its name implies, the sticker would basically let users include a poll with various options for status viewers to vote on. This will work similarly to standard in-chat polls, except that they will reside inside Status Updates instead.

Add Yours’ and Polls May Launch Together on WhatsApp Status

The latest update of WhatsApp for Android (2.24.23.21) gives hints of more Content Stickers. The first one is an “Add Yours” button that was taken from Instagram. To enable users to establish a public thread in stories, the photo-sharing site initially introduced Add Yours in 2021. Meta appears to be prepared to transfer it to WhatsApp three years later.

However, there will be a big difference in the messaging platform’s implementation of the feature. Given its emphasis on privacy, all interactions conducted through Add Yours are end-to-end encrypted. This means that when you reply to someone’s Add Yours Status Update, your response will only be visible to the people you have selected to view it, whether that’s all contacts or specific individuals. Instagram users, on the other hand, may simply follow trails to view the posts and shares of other people who interacted with status before them.

Currently, Add Your stickers and polls are being developed. It’s not clear when they might get to stable WhatsApp.
