PTA Announces Full Restoration of Internet Services in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), internet services have been fully restored across Pakistan after months of slow connectivity due to the maintenance of submarine cables.

In an interview with local media, the authorities confirmed that the issues with the SMW4 and AAE-1 submarine cables have been resolved.

According to the report, restoring the submarine lines would fix the 1750 Gbps problem and get internet service back to full speed.

As previously stated, the PTA had attributed problems with both submarine cables to the interruption of internet services.

In addition, PTA intended to enhance connection by adding three new cables—two from Transworld International and one from PTCL—to the national system over the course of the following two years.
