The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced on Sunday that the October 14th deadline for filing tax returns will remain final and will not be extended.

According to the FBR, the deadline had previously been extended at the request of tax bar associations, trade groups, and the general public.

The FBR had previously granted a 14-day extension on September 30th for filing income tax returns for the fiscal year 2023–2024.

In its notification, the FBR stated, “In exercise of powers conferred under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, the FBR has extended the filing deadline for the Tax Year 2024 to October 14th, 2024, for those required to file by September 30th, 2024, based on requests from various trade bodies, Tax Bar Associations, and the general public.”
