LAHORE: Public service delivery in Punjab has been revolutionized by the ‘Maryam ke Dastak’ initiative, which was started by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and is being carried out by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The program has also created job opportunities for those who are interested in becoming Dastak participants.

Over 150,000 people have used the “Dastak Doorstep Services” app to have important documents delivered to their homes. You can ask for services online or by calling the 1202 number. Dastak Facilitators are trained individuals who provide these services to the homes of citizens and make a living through a commission-based arrangement.

In just three months, the program has grown from providing ten basic public services in the Lahore district on June 4, 2024, to giving over 60 services in 11 districts. Users can access a wide range of government services using the app, including those related to driving licenses, police, excise and taxes, local government, the board of revenue, social welfare, livestock and dairy development, and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

According to PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf, “The ‘Maryam ke Dastak’ initiative is setting new benchmarks for public service delivery in Punjab, ensuring convenience, affordability, broad access and transparency.” The Dastak Facilitator App allows citizens to register as facilitators as well, resulting in greater job opportunities.
