The Nest I/O incubates 13 diverse startups for its inaugural batch

The Nest I/O has been providing a lot of hustle bustle for the tech fraternity of Karachi. Being the only incubator of its kind in the city, The Nest I/O has been arranging a lot of enlightening sessions for promising startups before they officially opened the applications for their first incubation batch. The incubation phase started from February 6th, with a Pitch Day where over 36 teams presented their ventures in mere 3 minutes. After the teams were shortlisted, a probational incubation phase kick-started on February 11th which lasted for a week resulting in the final shortlisting of 13 diverse startups for internal and 3 startups for external incubation. The 3 externally incubated startups will have access to mentors, sessions and investors, but they will not work from Nest I/O center.

The four-month incubation phase started from March 2nd will end on 2nd July. During the incubation period, the incubatees shall work on business, technical, marketing, and financial aspects of their products with on and off mentorship sessions and talks from the established professionals and entrepreneurs from the country and beyond. Meet the 13 diverse startups with their teams and ideas.

Team 1: HerMarketplace

Team Members: Nadia Patel Gangjee, Abdul Muizz

HerMarketplace.com is Pakistan’s first women-only secure ‘peer to peer’ marketplace that enables women to connect, buy, sell, make friends and profit from the market. Apart from being a marketplace, it is also a social community for women where they can share ideas, build a business and also find friends to connect and socialize with. The marketplace caters to individual/commercial sellers and buyers as well as those trying to set up a commercial venture.

Team 2: The Wedding PlanIt

Team Members: Sharjeel Ahmed, Riaz Ahmed, Shahbaz Khan, Nawaz Gabool

The Wedding Planit is the TripAdvisor of Weddings – An online marketplace that makes the wedding planning and shopping experience simple, convenient, enjoyable and economical. The idea is to create a one-stop portal where those planning a wedding can find vendors, compare prices and compile a budget without unnecessary hassle.

Team 3: Sukoon.com.pk

Team Members: Shoaib Iqbal and Qazi Umair

Sukoon.com.pk is an online handyman service that provides a one-stop solution for all home and office repair and maintenance services. Individuals as well as professionals can use the website to find reliable and competent plumbers, mechanics, drivers, household help etc.

Team 4: Contento 3

Team Members: Hammad Afridi

Contento3 helps businesses save time, money and effort in promoting products and services on digital channels like web, social, mobile, email and others. The software platform helps your digital marketing and content team in creating content only once and then publishing it on multiple digital channels.

Team 5: Vyva Sync

Team Members: Safwan Ummar, Pir Faraz Ali, Salman Abedin

Sync’d is a cross platform application that will simplify the storyboard, review and line up processes during media shoots and save time and resources spent on manual processing. Every crew member will be connected to a local wireless server and data at the end of the day or the shoot will be backed up into a cloud server to be used for future references.

Team 6: ErinMail

Team Members: Danish Raza, Hamza Siddiqui, Shahrukh Chaudhary

ErinMail is an email marketing tool that helps business send targeted emails to customers and improve conversions. Businesses can use the platform to craft customized email campaigns that can be sent over to different customer groups with a single click.

Team 7: Ejaadtech

Team Members: Nasir Aziz Jumani, Zaid Pirwani

EjadTech is developing programmable educational toys that makes learning interactive for kids and teenagers. Their key product is an R/C Car with the ‘Learning through play’ philosophy which means that it is not just another toy. Children can play in groups or with opponents and they can program/train the cars to get an edge over others.

Team 8: TeamFYP

Team Members: Noor Hussain, Nadir Aziz

Team FYP is developing an online platform that hosts and showcases Final Year Projects (FYPs) from different universities in Pakistan so they can be archived digitally. Adding value to this content and making it shareable engages and teaches students to promote their projects professionally and explore opportunities for improved design and future growth.

Team 9: DeliverIt

Team Members: Masood Jan, Monis Jan

Deliver.it is a same day delivery service with tracking functionality for businesses as well as personal use. It saves time, minimizes hassle and makes package delivery to multiple locations more effective and fast for customers and vendors.

Team 10: Knavix

Team Members: Amar Makhdoom

Knavix is the first maps and location based product in Pakistan with the largest pool of local residential addresses and business listings data. The technology will make it easier to find accurate home and business addresses in not just the main cities but also the remote areas of Pakistan.

Team 11: Capital Valley

Team Members: Sennen D’Souza

Capital Valley is the world’s first online entrepreneurial and philanthropic ecosystem. It merges the concepts of Facebook and Kickstarter to solve financing, mentoring and networking needs for startups and nonprofits. Capital Valley will allow business ideas and charitable causes to be connected to a global network of financiers, mentors, potential customers and talent online.

Team 12: Investors Lounge

Team Members: Baqar Abbas Jafri, Hammad Ali Hashmi, Sennen D’ Souza

Investor Lounge is a financial technology company developing online solutions to help investors make better financial decisions. They empower investors with education, financial information, online financial guidance to help them save and invest wisely.

Team 13: OuzelSystems

Team Members: Sameer Ahmed Khan, Zohaib Ahmed Shakir, Syed Abrar Ahmed, Shakir Ghani

The RemindApp by Ouzel Systems makes sure that no reminder is forgotten or missed by anyone. It finds a way to send customized reminders to individuals or groups through app notifications, alarms, sms and email services. The app also has options to track whether the reminders were checked or not.

We believe, with the amount of exposure that The Nest I/O is providing, these startups can go a long way. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, for we never know these products can achieve a global outreach through strong mentorship and industrial exposure.
