Sindh Government launches YouTube channel to help students study online

The Government of Sindh has recently created a YouTube channel by the name of “Online Classes College Education Department Sindh” to allow students to continue their studies while staying safe within their homes in the lockdown situation caused by the coronavirus.

Senator Saeed Ghani, a member of the Pakistan People’s Party, the ruling party in Sindh, announced the start of the channel via twitter. His tweet included a letter which contained details regarding the channels as well as the contact information of the key persons involved in managing the channel to ensure its smooth functioning. In the letter, it is stated that the channel is “for the benefit of college students and teachers”.

The Government of Sindh is encouraging college teachers to record video lectures on various topics in their curricula of 50 to 60 minutes and send them to the concerned person to be uploaded to the channel. Subjects and topics taught at Intermediate, Bachelor’s or Master’s level can be included. The letter ensures teachers that their contribution will be acknowledged while also also offering IT support to help make the process easier.

As we all know, the coronavirus pandemic has caused an enormous array of problems society as a whole and to the education sector in particular. All academic activity has ground to a halt and students are wasting their precious time stuck at home. Such an initiative from the government is a welcome relief in these trying times and will help students keep in touch with their studies until things get back to normal.
