WhatsApp tests feature to hide Muted Status updates

WhatsApp had introduced a quite useful feature to mute the unwanted WhatsApp stories, you don’t want to see. The unique feature has made our lives easier by giving us the option of not watching the Status updates of a lot of people not even by mistake. But I think sometimes we all have this curiosity to even watch the muted stories. Sometimes we take interest to still watch what the other person might be up to (even if we don’t like them). We regret it though we still take interest in watching it. This is going to change now, as WhatsApp will now let you hide the Muted Status to completely vanish from the section.

According to WhatsApp BetaInfo, the most resourceful site for messaging app news, WhatsApp has released a beta version for Android where there is an additional feature called “Hide Muted status”. This feature helps users to completely conceal the muted stories as long as they want. This means even if you look in the below section of WhatsApp stories, you will find nothing. This new feature was currently spotted in the beta version 2.19.183 of WhatsApp.

The site notes that the feature has been currently disabled by default for now but WhatsApp is working to develop this feature and it will be enabled soon. So, even if you have the beta version of WhatsApp or the latest version this feature is not enabled yet.

As you know that when you mute the Status updates, they go to the bottom of the section and are still visible. After this new feature will be launched, according to WABetaInfo, there will be a Hide button along with the muted status updates. If you press this button all the muted status updates will disappear and a “show” button will replace the hide button to bring back the hidden muted stories.

There’s no information about the launch date of the feature, but as the messaging app is also improving its Picture-in-Picture mode, we may see both features’ release together.
