The modern age is one of rapid growth and massive change, which makes the existence of digital systems imperative for the creation of a smoothly functioning society. For Pakistan, it is particularly important to boost its productivity in order to stay abreast of the rest of the world. In this regard, the recent collaboration of Finja Pvt Ltd. and Pakistan Post to work on digitizing the latter’s services is an extremely welcome development.
The two organizations have immensely different goals and foundations, but their alliance is just the breath of fresh air that our country needs. Incorporated in 2016, Finja Pvt Ltd. is a Pakistani fintech that works on digital payments and aims to make them more effective, while Pakistan Post is the country’s largest postal operator that ahs been around ever since the country’s inception.
Both organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 18th June, 2019 whereby Pakistan Post agreed to serve as a medium through which Finja can not only grow its e-commerce platform, but also integrate itself with the postal operator’s existing platform to streamline its services.
Naturally, this would enable a greater number of customers to purchase a wide range of products at Finja’s Marketplace through both direct payments and monthly installments. Considering that e-commerce is one of Pakistan Post’s key aims these days, this development should end up benefiting it immensely.
Additionally, Finja would aid the development of Pakistan Post by digitizing a whole host of its services, including deliveries, remittances, disbursements and payments. The private company can do an undeniably good job here because of its history of working on products like instant digital credit and automated payroll systems.
This partnership is bound to improve upon the current landscape by not only streamlining our postal services, but also promoting an environment of innovation and digitization.
