The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has digitized around 500,000 applications for the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. The country is facing a shortfall of 10 million houses and the number is piling up every year. To reduce this gap the present government has launched a Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.
The government assigned NADRA with the task of digitizing the submitted application forms for the scheme. The authority completed the first phase of the housing scheme and is now planning to move further ahead on the second phase.
According to the data issued by the interior division, NADRA has successfully processed, 36,875 applications of arms licenses for the interior ministry, 96,028 applications were processed for the Punjab arms licenses project, and 12,102 applications have been processed for the Sindh arms licenses project.
Other operational projects of NADRA include Excise and Taxation, Islamabad Capital Territory for which they processed 60,359 applications during that period. Meanwhile, 73,101 applications of Executive Passport Office (EPO), 333,118 Livelihood Support Grant applications for the Temporary Displaced Persons Emergency Recovery Project, and 368,480 Child Wellness Grant applications have been processed so far.
NADRA also implemented some new projects including Kenya Maintenance Contract worth the US $741,000, Nigeria Maintenance Contract worth $600,000 and Sudan Maintenance Contract for software enhancements, maintenance, and annual support of Sudan Civil Registration System.
