BioWare answers all the Anthem demo hate

Anthem’s demo faced a slew of problems, like the infinite loading screens, connectivity issues, and various bugs to name a few. To make matters worse was the fact that players were those who had pre-ordered the game, so-called VIPs. The demo weekend which ran from 25-27 Jan. wasn’t exactly a VIP experience.

Players faced issues like not being able to move through game locations. Additionally, many users with high-end gaming machines were unable to get a stable framerate. What’s more is that some graphical adjustments in the PC settings did not work. An apology was due, otherwise, Anthem’s player base would have received a blow.

BioWare’s Head of Live Service, Chad Robertson, admitted the demo’s shortcomings saying, “Yesterday was rocky. The first day of our VIP demo weekend did not go exactly as we planned….” He clarified that “real-world play frequently leads to unexpected issues.” Furthermore, he said that the servers were prepped for an increased number of players that were expected from the pre-orders. Thus, he put to rest the notion that the game was unprepared for the traffic.

But that’s not all. To compensate the VIPs, BioWare is offering access to all four javelins– exosuits representing classic game roles, in the upcoming open demo. Previously, only one javelin The Ranger was available. Now VIPs will have access to Colossus, Storm, Interceptor and of course Ranger from the start.

The open demo is planned on 1-3 Feb. and it is free for all to enjoy. Moreover, VIPs will be getting a new vinyl cosmetic option at the launch of the game on 22 Feb. This is in addition to the vinyl already offered as part of the pre-order bonus. The whole matter can be put under the rug as long as the open demo goes smoothly. However, there will be much more increased traffic and burden on the servers. Let’s see if they can take it.
