Smartphones have come a long way. From tiny pixelated scratch-prone screens to huge Quad High Definition, Gorilla Glass-3 sporting anti-glare displays. From plasticky thick slabs to aluminum unibody thin-as-a-pencil pieces of marvel engineering. From taking pathetically-low lit photos in broad daylight to portable DSLRs in our hands. But one thing that has remained (almost) the same is the battery life; most smartphones today still can’t last more than a day.
Even with huge batteries, most flagships today barely make it to the evening and that’s pretty much it. Power-users even can’t manage that sometimes. Fortunately, if you are one of those smartphone-loving users, we have compiled a list of some of the best smartphones who will last you all day long, and still have enough juice left to not make you panic.
Unveiled in January 2016, the ASUS Zenfone Max features one of the biggest batteries any manufacturer has ever dared to put in a smartphone, a massive 5000 mAh behemoth. To put that into perspective, most flagships today barely touch the 3000 mAh mark!
Lenovo too unveiled their own outrageously-big battery-toting phone this year, called the Lenovo Vibe P1 Turbo. It features a 5000 mAh battery, sealed inside a surprisingly thin 9.9 mm casing.
Chinese company Oppo has managed to make some exceptionally great phones and the R7 Plus is no different. The 6-inch display-toting phablet is also one of the longest-lasting ones with a mammoth 4100 mAh battery.
A step-down from the Ascend Mate 7 in terms of battery size (4100 mAh), this one comes with a 4000 mAh battery. Fortunately though, it carries on its predecessor’s legacy of an excellent whole day (and some more) battery life.
One of the most elegantly-designed Android phablets on the market, the Galaxy A9 is a rival to Samsung’s own Note but comes with an even bigger battery of 4000 mAh. While the Note 5 may have the fancy curves and the S Pen, this one handily takes the lead in the battery compartment.
Update:
You can also consider the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro which has an even bigger, 5,000 mAh battery.
Lenovo’s A5000 comes with A similarly huge 4000 mAh battery as the Huawei’s Mate 8 and the Galaxy A9 but a much smaller 5-inch screen but just 720p resolution. For users looking for un-phablet like smaller phones, this is the perfect recipe for long-lasting battery life.
The playful younger sibling of Motorola’s 2015 flagship, the Moto X Play is a ruggedized smartphone for the hardcore user. Along with that, the Play also has a 3630 mAh battery to make sure it lasts long enough.
Called “Shatter-proof” by Motorola, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is truly an almost unbreakable-phone, even surviving a 900-foot fall. To go along with its invincibility, the 3760 mAh battery in the phone doesn’t disappoint die soon either.
The sturdier ruggedized version of Samsung’s last year flagship also managed to be one of the only phones of 2015 that could make it through a day and a half, or even two days. It has the same specs as the S6, managing to provide long-lasting battery life without compromising on performance.
