5 Entrepreneurial Lessons to Learn From The Nightcrawler Movie

If you have seen this movie you might be wondering why the author choose Lou Bloom to extract golden lessons. Believe me, if he is the antagonist he is also the protagonist. Take away his creepy vibes, inhumane remarks, sociopaths tendencies and immoral indulgences you will find a passionate entrepreneur who is ready to take risks and make the crucial decisions for his venture. Starting from buying an amateur camcorder to investing in professional equipment, Lou Bloom makes sure that he starts off as a freelancer but ends up being the CEO of news production company. He maybe a fictional character but some of his philosophies are simply impressive:

“I’ve made up my mind to find a career I can learn and grow into. Who am I? I’m a hard worker. I set high goals and I’ve been told that I’m persistent.”

If this can work for Lou Bloom then it can work for you too. It is always crucial to find your true calling instead of getting your hands dirty here and there. Once you have found your passion, you need to strive determinedly, paying no heed to the barriers that come your way. You should aim for the top because, in an ocean of big fishes, mediocrity will not land you anywhere.

“They’ve done studies, and they found that in any system that relies on cooperation, from a school of fish or say even a professional hockey team, for example, these experts have identified communication as the number one single key to success.”

Lou Bloom is smart enough to identify communication skill as a key player for his progress. He works on maintaining continuous dialogue during his public dealings and appears open and concerned towards the views of others. Be it verbal or non verbal, communication can utterly transform the way people perceive you and thus help you network and voice your ideas. Unconsciously, it is your communication that removes little hurdles in your path to success and effectively makes an identity for you as a brand.

“I believe that good things come to those who work themselves off and that good people who reach the top of the mountain, didn’t just fall there.”

There are a lot of times when we idolize big tycoons and believe that it is impossible to be like them. In such moments, we forget, they also started from a small initiative but with their determination and devotion they made a mark upon the world. In today’s rat race, only those can survive who are brave enough to put tireless efforts to fuel their passion and conquer the mountain of success.

“I took an online business course, for example. And I learned that you have to have a business plan before starting a business.”

Apparently, Lou Bloom is smart enough to invest his free time taking all the right online courses that can help him get equipped with business dynamics. He realizes the significance of having a strong action plan that can always guide you to take only steps that can be feasible to your venture.

“My motto is if you want to win the lottery you’ve got to make money to get a ticket.”

The moment Lou Bloom utters these words you realize that he is a man who will never shy of taking an initiative for his own good. This turns out to be a golden advice for all people who have a mindset that a venture can only be successful if you have third party investors for it. Therefore, instead of generating their own capital, they turn a lot of time to dust by waiting for funding instead of doing something on their own.
