5 Apps Programmers Should Download

There are various apps available on Google Play and Apple Store that are being utilized by programmers to increase their productivity and keep useful tools handy. However, the common factor in most of the apps is a lack of polished UI design which can be a turn down for some.

1. AIDE – Android IDE

AIDE is a highly useful app for programmers who want to develop on their Android devices. It does not only turn your Android tablet into a development box but also enables you to browse your code on the phone turning it into a mini computer. It supports building apps with Java/XML and C/C++. The best part about this app is that it is highly compatible with Eclipse and thus you can transfer your projects in one go. Moreover, it seamlessly integrates with Dropbox allowing you to have your projects with you all the time on cloud storage.

2. Wordpress

If you use Wordpress to manage your websites, develop themes or even run your blog then this app is for you. The Wordpress app enables you to make tweaks and changes through your phone. In addition to that, you can carry out all the regular operations of editing, writing. publishing and checking stats as frequent as you want and that too on the go!

3. Pythonista

If you are a Python geek then this app asks you to bring the Zen of Python to your iOS. The app is available for both iPad and iPhone. Although it primarily offers to edit and run your code however it also combines a lot of cool features and provides support for sound, animations, multi-touch so that your code can make optimum use of devices.

4. VT Viewsource

VT Viewsource is a robust tool that can be used to view source just as it is done in web browsers. It offers an array of features such as multiple viewing modes for desktop and mobiles, different syntax themes and integration with not only the native Android browser but also with Opera Mobile, Chrome, Firefox.

The app is available on Google Play.

5. Lisping

If you work with the LISP programming languages and is a fan of functional programming then Lisping is the right tool for you. It enables you to produce code for Scheme and Clojure. The perks of using lisping is the less complicated use of parenthesis as the app enables you to focus on a single context at a time.
