49% of KPK’s Digital Skills Training graduates get employed, further 4,000 individuals to be trained

The MD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KITB) has said that KPITB’s Youth Employment Program has resulted in a 49% success rate in employment generation for the trainees. “Digital Skills is one of the four pillars around which the KP Digital Policy is structured. KPITB intends to place the province as a hub for the digital Workforce.”, he added.

On Wednesday, the KPK government announced to launch digital skills training for 4,000 youth across the province in collaboration with the UNDP and the Royal Norwegian Embassy as part of the ‘KP Youth Employment Program.’
The launching ceremony of the training program will be held live on 7th April 2021. The advisor to Chief Minister KPK on Science and Technology & Information Technology, Zia Bangash, said that the move is “A step towards achieving the productivity gap between the job market and skill set.”

Previously United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) collaborated with Abacus Consulting to train and educate the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on advanced digital skills under UNDP’s ‘Kamyab Jawan: Youth Empowerment Programme’ and KPITB’s ‘KP Youth Employment Program.’

Courses in the previous batch offered modules intended to equip the students with the skills needed to access digital opportunities, both in Pakistan and across the globe, including Amazon Web Services (AWS Foundation and AWS Solutions Architect), Microsoft Azure (MCSD: Web Applications) and Big Data Analytics (Cloudera Certified Associate).
