3D printing lab MakerStudio inaugurated at NED UET

NED UET has inaugurated its first 3D printing lab named as MakerStudio. MakerStudio will not only be accessible for the university students but outsiders as well. The establishment of such center in university is to encourage students, staff members and hobbyists to utilize the facility for their informal or course related projects.

The 3D printers used at the lab are very user friendly and a layman with no prior knowledge of its functionality can aptly use it. While talking to Tribune, ORIC commercialization associate Arsalan Waheed said that 3D printing labs can be a good addition to universities with over 10,000 students enrolled. Such labs gives opportunities for collaboration, self-learning and networking.

The printers used in MakerStudio are assembled in Pakistan and ORIC has encouraged students to personally checkout how these printers are assembled.

3D printing is taking off in Pakistan and we have recently seen many 3D printing startups emerging in the same domain.
