38% Pakistanis including men and women of all ages spend 2 hours or more on their smartphones every day.
A survey was carried out under the name Gilani Research Foundation Survey by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, in which they asked people, “How many hours in a day do you spend using a mobile phone?” The Gilani Foundation is the Pakistani affiliate of the Gallup International.
The survey team selected a sample of men and women from across the four provinces of Pakistan. According to the survey result, 38% Pakistani said they spend around 2 hours in a day using a mobile phone, and 29% claimed that they did not spend any time on smartphones at all.
“The result in detail shows, 8% people said they spend 3 hours, 3% said 4 to 5 hours, 4% said more than 5 hours and the rest of the 29% said they do not use a cell phone at all.”
The foundation carried out the survey from a sample of 1178 men and women in both rural and urban areas of all four provinces in Pakistan, during a time period between 23 February and 03 March 2019. The survey also mentioned that the error margin in the study is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3% at the 95% confidence level.
The use of mobile phone devices is increasing in Pakistan especially among the youngsters, with little to none knowledge about how to maintain security for their data on smartphones. Another survey which was conducted last month by the Network for Consumer Protection revealed that 83% of university students are unaware that service providers and software companies can access the data on their smart devices.
These results show how much important it is that we teach our youngsters, how to maintain the security of their private data, to save them from any unpleasant event in the future.
