Swat University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Jamal Khan has recently distributed around 358 more laptops among students of various departments of Swat University under the Prime Minister’s Laptops Scheme. So far, the university had distributed over 1,150 laptops in four different phases under PM’s Laptop Scheme.
The laptop distribution ceremony was held at the IT department of Swat University. The event was graced by the presence of university’s Director of the Directorate of Information Technology, Mr. Fida Hussain. Various faculty members, focal persons and students of different teaching departments of the university also attended the ceremony.
Vice-chancellor of the university Dr. Jamal Khan while speaking at the occasion emphasized on the need of advanced information technology tools for the economic development and prosperity of Pakistan. Students must use their laptops for meaningful educational purposes, he urged. “Positive use of the information technology can improve the students’ learning process and will make them able to contribute to the country’s development”, Dr. Jamal Khan further added.
Since 2014, when the PM’s Laptop scheme was initiated, it has distributed around 400,000 laptops under four different phases to deserving and eligible students of over 40 public and semi-public universities across Pakistan.
Dr. Jamal Khan also shared his views on how the PM’s Laptop Scheme has helped a lot in promoting a learning environment among the students. “The students of the University of Swat have been benefiting of the Prime Minister’s Laptops Scheme since it was launched”, vice-chancellor further added.
Director IT Directorate, Mr. Fida Hussain while speaking at the occasion said that the university had distributed 1,160 laptops among eligible students since the inception of this scheme. “More laptops would be distributed among other talented students of the university in near future”, he added further.
