Being productive is not always a piece of cake when you have got so much to do. Highly productive people are well aware of the value of time. In case you haven’t noticed, it is the first 2 hours of the day at your office that set your pace for the rest of the day. If you make the most out of these two hours, you will be surprised to see how stellar performance you can give throughout the day.
Morning is not the time to open all your social media accounts or read and respond to each and every mail in your inbox. Otherwise, you will be ruing your productive hours. It is the way you start your day that leads to productivity. You may be waking up early, exercising and doing everything other thing productive people do but are you really doing it the right way? I am revealing the 3 most important morning rituals that most of the productive people follow:
1. Limit the greeting time
It is great to give a warm smile to greet your colleagues but if you are spending 20 minutes greeting, that needs to change. Talking to a creepy colleague can literally drain your energy. Stay away from those who usher negativity or those who just gossip about others. Just greet everyone and get back to your seat. You don’t want to kill your productivity hours listening to negative people.
2. Plan and strategize
Take a few minutes from your time to map out your direction for the day. You need to be sure you are headed towards the right direction. The best approach is to create a to-do list the night before so that the next day, you just pick a task and get going instead of wasting your time thinking what to do today. This allows you to be more efficient throughout the day.
3. Do the hardest task first
Mark Twain said ‘Eat the live frog first thing in the morning and nothing bad will happen to you the rest of the day.’ This implies to tackling the most difficult task first. Since this task requires the most energy, doing it first means you are utilizing your energy right. The rest of the day will become easier since you don’t have to dread about the frog.
It is pretty clear what separates the highly productive people from the rest of us is that they take advantage of the morning hours since their productivity at that time is at its peak. If you were wasting your morning, it’s time to fix things my friend.
