2025’s Best Upcoming Phones: What to Expect in Features and Specs

The upcoming year, 2025, is set to unveil a thrilling array of smartphones, featuring everything from top-tier flagship models to affordable mid-range options. Whether your phone contract is nearing its end or you’re just in the mood for an upgrade, there’s always an enticing new device waiting to catch your eye. This blog will guide you through the most anticipated phones of the coming year, covering expected features, camera specs, and software highlights.

Top Upcoming Phones of 2025

Apple iPhone SE 4

Apple’s affordable iPhone SE 4 is set to undergo a major redesign, featuring the sleek flat edges of the iPhone 14 and a vibrant 6.1-inch OLED display. This update replaces the old 4.7-inch screen and Touch ID with a sleek and contemporary design.

However, don’t expect the Dynamic Island or Action Button—those features will remain exclusive to higher-end models. The Lightning port is set to be replaced by USB-C to adhere to the latest EU regulations. The most probable launch date appears to be March 2025, although there’s still a chance for an earlier release in September 2024.

Samsung Galaxy S25

The Galaxy S25 series from Samsung is expected to make its debut in January 2025, featuring the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite across all regions. There are whispers suggesting that the Ultra model might feature smaller bezels and a more rounded design, but it seems significant camera upgrades and quicker charging speeds may not be in the works.

AI features are anticipated to take centre stage, complemented by Samsung’s renowned OLED displays and a uniquely tailored version of Android. For now, the Galaxy S24 Ultra continues to hold its own as a flagship smartphone.

Google Pixel 9a

The Pixel lineup from Google might welcome a budget-friendly option with the Pixel 9a, even though the rumors surrounding it are somewhat mixed. The Pixel 9a might show up with a price tag of approximately $500/£500, featuring a more accessible version of the Pixel 9’s AI capabilities and camera innovations.

As of now, there’s still no confirmation, so enthusiasts of Google’s smartphones might have to hold on until around mid-to-late 2025. The Pixel 8a stands out as a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a harmonious blend of affordability and performance.

Asus ROG Phone 9

Asus is gearing up to incorporate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in its highly anticipated ROG Phone 9, which is scheduled for an official launch in November. Although many specifics are still shrouded in secrecy, verified images reveal a triple-camera arrangement on the rear and LED dot matrix-style lighting, paying homage to its gaming heritage.

Look forward to the signature features of the ROG lineup, including dual USB-C ports for both charging and accessories. Currently, the ROG Phone 8 Pro stands out as a formidable choice for gaming enthusiasts.

OnePlus 13

OnePlus is set to unveil its next ‘flagship killer’ in December, with the initial launch taking place exclusively in China. It seems that a worldwide launch is expected to take place in early 2025. There are hints suggesting a substantial 6000mAh battery, surpassing the capacity of most popular smartphones, along with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

Initial visuals indicate an AMOLED display featuring gentle curves on every edge, along with a price point designed to compete with Apple and Samsung. Hasselblad is set to maintain its collaboration on the camera, though specifics about the sensor remain undisclosed. Teaser images reveal three colour choices and flat edges that bring to mind the design of iPhones.

Xiaomi 15 Series

The Xiaomi 15 series is anticipated to be the inaugural commercially available phone equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, potentially transforming mobile performance through reduced power consumption, accelerated AI processing, and improved gaming features. The release in China is scheduled for late November, while a worldwide launch is expected in early 2025.

There’s uncertainty surrounding whether Xiaomi will space out its releases like it did with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, but expectations are elevated for remarkable improvements in image processing. For those eager for the latest, the Xiaomi 14 stands out as an exceptional option.

Honor Magic 7

The Magic 7 series from Honour is anticipated to be one of the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite. There are whispers about the introduction of on-device generative AI aimed at enhancing gaming experiences. A reveal is scheduled for October 30 in China, with a global release anticipated in early 2025.

This model signifies a change in design for Honour, featuring flat sides rather than the usual curved edges. For anyone looking to elevate their experience right away, the Honour Magic 6 Pro delivers outstanding photography and performance.

The upcoming year promises a diverse lineup of cutting-edge smartphones, featuring everything from high-performance flagships to affordable choices. Whether you’re on the hunt for the latest innovations or a reliable upgrade, these new releases are sure to elevate your mobile experience.
