iPhone X is the Apple’s latest device and it is breaking several records. Like it was out of stock after just an hour when its preorders began and then it sold out in just under 3 minutes in South Korea. It shows that the iPhone demand is very high and therefore, Apple is expecting an $87 billion revenue in Q1 2018.
According to a new report, the 2018 iPhone line up will come with improved antenna design. The antenna will be mostly like the iPhone X but will be slightly improved to boost the LTE connectivity speed. It was also revealed earlier that the upcoming iPhone devices will use XMM 7560 modem and also Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 modems. The newly used antenna will use 4×4 MIMO technology compared to 2×2 MIMO technology used in previous models. MIMO stands for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output and it will increase the paths from 2 to 4 from cellular tower to the iPhone and it will improve the LTE connectivity.
An earlier report from the same source also revealed that the 2018 iPhone lineup will come in 3 different models. There’ll be 2 iPhone X devices with an OLED display and there’ll be a cheaper version with an LCD panel. All of the new models will come with an edge to edge display and 3D facial recognition sensor just like the one used in the iPhone X. The OLED models will have 5.8 and 6.5-inch screens and if the 5.8-inch model costs $1,000, I wonder how much the 6.5 inch model of the same device cost. If you are planning to get the bigger iPhone X, you might want to start saving for it now.
“We predict Apple (US) will launch three new iPhone models in 2H18: 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED models and a 6.1-inch TFT-LCD model, all equipped with a full-screen design and TrueDepth Camera (front 3D sensing), as with iPhone X,”
Moreover, Apple is expected to ship 25-27 million iPhone devices in 2017 and the demand will increase to around 40% in the first quarter of 2018. Its demand will remain high throughout the 2018 and Apple will be assembling around 100-120 million iPhone devices in the 2nd half of 2018 alone. Apple will also be able to target the users of all classes with 3 of its new iPhone devices and it will most probably discontinue the iPhone 8 line up.
