15 year old girl gang-raped as 40 people watched on Facebook Live, none reported to the Police

A 15 year old girl was sexually assaulted in Chicago and live streamed on Facebook Live. None of the 40 people watching reported the incident to the Police, relevant authorities have announced.

The clip which now has been removed was being streamed by 40 people, none of which phoned the authorities. The police only came to know as mother of the victim approached Chicago Police with screenshots of the assault. The Chicago Police immediately initiated the investigations and ordered Facebook to take down the video.

“Police only learned of the latest alleged attack when the girl’s mother approached the head of the police department, Superintendent Eddie Johnson, late Monday afternoon as he was leaving a department station in the Lawndale neighbourhood,” a spokesperson of the Chicago Police department told.

He further continued that as the Superintendent watched the video, he looked visibly upset over its content and as well on the fact that at least 40 people watched the video live but none called the authorities, the spokesperson continued.

The girl who allegedly went missing this Sunday afternoon, in Chicago, United States was later found and treated at a local hospital. As much as six culprits were involved in the incident. The girl told the authorities that she knew one of them. As of now, no arrests have been made in this regard.

As the technology has evolved over the course of time, people also have started to grow different mindsets. People have started to publish their lives and acts, whether good or bad, over the social media. The Wall Street Journal has stated that there has been at-least 50 criminal activities broadcasted over Facebook Live.
