The futuristic electric car company, Tesla has just unveiled a new next-generation which will add 75 miles of range in only fives minutes. This is by far the fastest charger unveiled by Tesla.
As per the press release posted on Tesla’s website the new V3 charger is capable of recharging the vehicle at a maximum rate of 250kW. The charger was designed with respect to the design of the Tesla Model 3 sedan. The main reason for this can be attributed to the newer design of the Tesla Model 3 since its battery composition can easily accommodate the new charger. Unfortunately, the Model S and Model X will be limited to the 120kW charging for now.
This new innovation in battery charging will become a game-changing luxury for the current and potential Tesla owners. As this will cut the amount of time customers spend on charging by half (50%).
“A new 1MW power cabinet with a similar design to our utility-scale products supports peak rates of up to 250kW per car. At this rate, a Model 3 Long Range operating at peak efficiency can recover up to 75 miles of charge in 5 minutes and charge at rates of up to 1,000 miles per hour. Combined with other improvements we’re announcing today, V3 Supercharging will ultimately cut the amount of time customers spend charging by an average of 50%, as modeled on our fleet data.” Tesla said in its statement.
Furthermore, the company isn’t only focusing on its infrastructure to improve Tesla’s charging experience, the company is also improving on the software side of the spectrum. At the beginning of the next week, Tesla will be rolling out a new feature called ‘On-Route Battery Warm-up’ which will enable the engine of the Tesla car to intelligently heat the battery whenever the car is near a supercharging station to ensure you arrive at the optimal temperature to charge, reducing average charge times for owners by 25%.
The best part about all of this is the company is backing up its hardware breakthroughs with robust system updates that will enable the Tesla automobiles to work at maximum efficiency.
